AI / ML Engineer

Join the Fieldpiece team as an AI/ML Engineer and play a crucial role in developing and implementing artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions to enhance our products and services. You’ll own the data and work with cross-functional teams to design, build, and deploy AIML models, algorithms, and software components that enable data-driven decision-making and improve product performance.

The ideal candidate is big picture and hands-on, an expert with data, has created business-driven models and has the personality to educate people at all levels to develop useful, innovative products with AI/ML integration. The position reports to the VP of R&D.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and optimize AIML algorithms and models to address specific challenges in the HVAC industry.
  • Work on predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, energy efficiency, and other relevant use cases.
  • Preprocess and clean large datasets to extract valuable insights and features for machine learning models and identify patterns, trends, and potential improvements.
  • Train, evaluate, and iterate AIML models using various techniques such as deep learning, reinforcement learning, or classical machine learning.
  • Integrate AIML models into existing Fieldpiece products and services to enhance their functionality and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data scientists, software engineers, and product managers, to align AIML initiatives with business goals.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and team members.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends, advancements, and best practices in AIML and related fields to contribute to innovative ideas and technologies.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or higher degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Data Science, or related.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, C/C++, R, or similar.
  • Experience with ML frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, Torch, scikit-learn).
  • Familiarity with data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms and services for model deployment and management.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to educate and explain ideas.
  • Experience working with tools such as Slack, GitHub, HuggingFace
  • Strong capability for independent work and assessment

Preferred Qualifications include experience with edge computing, IoT concepts and devices, embedded system development, or HVACR knowledge.
