Cybersecurity Intern
The Cybersecurity Intern will play a key role in supporting our cybersecurity infrastructure by assisting with the development and implementation of security measures to protect our systems and data hosted on Microsoft Azure. This position will work closely with the Cybersecurity and IT teams to aid in various tasks, including Security Awareness Training, Vulnerability Management Analysis, Log Management, Vendor Management, and Incident Response. The intern will gain hands-on experience in the field of cybersecurity within a global corporate environment.
This position offers a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about cybersecurity to gain practical experience and contribute to the security initiatives of a global company. The ideal candidate will be a motivated learner, ready to absorb new information and apply it in a dynamic corporate environment.
Location: Remote within the U.S.; must have U.S. work authorization
Schedule: Part-time
Pay Rate: $18-$23 per hour
Key Responsibilities
- Security Awareness Training: Assist in developing and delivering security awareness training materials for employees to enhance their understanding of cybersecurity best practices.
- Vulnerability Management Analysis: Support the analysis and documentation of vulnerabilities within our network and systems and assist in the prioritization and tracking of remediation efforts.
- Log Management: Help in the collection, analysis, and management of logs from various systems and platforms to identify and investigate security incidents or anomalies.
- Vendor Management: Aid in the assessment and management of security aspects of vendor relationships, ensuring that third-party solutions meet our security standards.
- Incident Response: Participate in the incident response process, including preparation, detection and analysis, containment, eradication, and recovery from security incidents.
- Research and Documentation: Conduct research on emerging cybersecurity threats and technologies.
- Document and report findings to the cybersecurity team.
- Compliance and Auditing: Assist in compliance efforts and internal auditing processes to ensure alignment with security policies and standards.
- Security Tools and Technologies: Gain exposure to a variety of security tools and technologies used for threat detection, prevention, and response.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with IT and cybersecurity team members on projects and initiatives to enhance the organization’s security posture.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Passionate about being a Cybersecurity Professional. Prefer those currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field. However, a degree is not as important as the passion you bring to the work.
- Understanding of Cybersecurity Fundamentals: Basic knowledge of cybersecurity principles, practices, and technologies.
- Familiarity with Cloud Environments: Experience or coursework related to cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze data and understand security logs.
- Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical audiences.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically in the face of cybersecurity challenges.
- Teamwork and Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with other departments.
- Eagerness to Learn: A strong desire to learn and stay abreast of new and emerging cybersecurity technologies and threats.
- Attention to Detail: High attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies or anomalies in data.
- Ethical Considerations: Strong ethics and understanding of the importance of confidentiality and integrity in the cybersecurity field.
