Director – AI/ML:
We are looking for a Director, AI/ML to join our team at TD Securities. The Director AI/ML leads development, execution and support of AI and ML initiatives implemented by AI/ML analytics Leads, while also managing and leading the team. Responsible for end-to-end solution design, management of technology issue escalation and resolution process, team dynamics, as well as stakeholder management of innovative technology solutions. Oversees AI/ML Leads to effectively communicate business needs and decisions as well as driving business results and ensuring alignment with the organization’s Target Operating Model.
Customer Accountabilities:
- Lead team of ML Modelling professionals and provide day to day direction as needed
- Provide deep and highly specialized subject matter expertise to other modelers and /or internal partners as needed in the development of data analytical models
- May also be accountable to lead team in developing, delivering and presenting business insights derived from the operation and development of ML analytics projects.
- Act as People Manager and is responsible for ongoing coaching and development, setting objectives, assessing performance of junior ML analytics engineers
- Work closely with business owners to identify opportunities where ML/AI tools can provide a business advantage.
- Lead and oversee the design and delivery of enterprise ML solutions for customers
- Work in a highly interactive, team-oriented environment with technology delivery leads of other teams to build up and run ML models.
Shareholder Accountabilities:
- Provide analytical thought leadership and stay current on developments in applied AI/ML and other technology innovations relevant to Finance
- May oversee build, deployment and operation of complex ML models that learn from data
- Manage AI/ML model standards consistently across projects and initiatives
- Work with other technology teams to agree on the delivery mechanism, usage, monitoring and adoption of ML analytics.
- Develop best practices for creation, versioning, operation monitoring of ML models.
- Recommend opportunities for reuse or extend existing ML models in new business contexts.
- Lead initiatives to create and protect intellectual property, including developing and filing patents related to AI and ML innovations, thereby enhancing firm’s competitive edge.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance AI and ML adoption across the organization, leading to operational efficiencies, time savings and new revenue streams, aligning with company’s objectives.
Employee/Team:
- Responsible for management of the day-to-day activities of the ML delivery team(s) providing both leadership and guidance
- Grow team expertise to align with enterprise demand and the Bank’s direction; assess team skills and capabilities and continually look for ways to provide and enhance the value delivered
- Co-ordinate necessary resources to ensure completion by deadlines
- Provide coaching, development, succession, recruitment, resource management and overall team leadership for team members and provide regular input into team members’ assessment of performance and development plans
- Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results and meet timelines
- Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues/ points of interest
- Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity, effectiveness and operational efficiency
- Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners, program and project managers.
- Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and other business units, including participation in cross-functional groups or committees (e.g., Data Councils)
- Spearhead initiatives to educate and train employees on AI and ML, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas where AI & ML can add value, providing thought leadership and strategic guidance. Mentor and guide other team members in the process of patent creation and other IP-related activities.
Breadth and Depth:
- Significant expertise and knowledge of specific domain or broad range of experience in analytics and technology domains, including understanding of in-house and third-party architecture integration for analytics platforms
- Great knowledge of TD applications, systems, networks, innovation, design activities, best practices, business / organization, Bank standards, regulatory and compliance standards.
- Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials, with deep industry, external / internal, enterprise knowledge, recognizing and anticipating emerging trends and; identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas
- Facilitate key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to executive audience (output may include strategic roadmap and/or deliverables/ frameworks/ short to long term goals/ patents/ other IP creation etc.)
- Set operational team direction and collaborate with others to execute on common goals
- Focus on longer range planning for functional area (e.g. 12 months or greater)
- Generally reports to executive
Experience And Education:
- Undergraduate degree or technical certificate
- Graduate degree preferred
- 8+ years of relevant experience with undergraduate degree or 5+ years’ experience with a graduate degree
The Director, Master Data Management – TDS will act as a Product Owner and subject matter expert by defining product strategies and roadmaps for Master Data platform builds. The incumbent will be responsible for driving the direction of the master data solution, including the various stages of data processing.
Depth & Scope:
- This role is responsible for:
- Sourcing Ingestion – Acquisition, Loading & Orchestration .
- Data Storage – Raw data storage, normalization rules and curation
- Data Profiling – Data profiling approach based on LDM and CDEs
- Matching & Merging – Rules based matching, clustering & Unique ID assignment
- Defining the Mastering Strategy – API / Service definitions to integrate with masters
- Developing DQ Reports – Work with ops to define DQ rules based on CDEs and drive DQ dashboard
- Partnering with technology team to drive product delivery roadmap and deliver against roadmap
- Partnering with reference data operations to define exception management and SOPs
- Reviewing with stakeholders and obtaining signoffs on project milestones and other significant items, as appropriate
- Supporting the integration of the new and legacy reference data stores through Migration & Reconciliation analysis.
- Working collaboratively across a matrix organization to gain support, resourcing, and drive results
- Being scale minded by ensuring re-use of core datasets, technology, architecture and techniques
- Acting as a clear communicator, both verbal and written to present articulately and confidently
- Being a team player that can engage on innovation and cultural changes throughout the organization
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree.
- 10-15 years of experience in financial industry with focus on building / delivering large scale data driven platform solutions.
- Ability to create Data Flow Diagrams and Entity Relationship Models.
- Familiarity with data vendors feeds like Bloomberg Back-Office, Extended Back-Office, Per Security, Reuters Data Scope, FTID, Telekurs VDF, SIX FI, etc.
- Blending/linking sets of data from various sources (ex. external vendor feeds vs internally created data sets).
- Exposure to new semantic MDM products like Tamr, Zaloni, ANZO, Reltio etc.
- Exposure to Digital Transformation initiatives, Centralized Data sourcing Initiatives.
- Creating Program Management metrics & Reporting.
- Experience with stakeholder management to gather clear inputs and buy-in when defining Strategy, Charter and Roadmaps.
