About the Role:
As the Head of Automation & AI, the role is pivotal in leading and developing both the Automation and Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (AI/ML) strategy within the Digital & Transformation function and icare. This involves providing thought leadership in the execution of these strategies, driving icare’s journey in operational excellence, innovation, and ensuring the successful integration of emerging technologies and advancements in both spaces. Working closely with various stakeholders, the role ensures that Automation and AI/ML initiatives are identified, quantified, and delivered to address the business challenges and needs, leading to improved outcomes for those served. By keeping abreast of best practices and future trends, this role is crucial in enhancing icare’s capabilities in Automation and AI, fostering collaboration, and ensuring that the organisation stays at the forefront of technological advancements.

Duties:
It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as the Head of Automation & AI you will:
- Lead the development of both the Automation and AI/ML strategies for Digital & Transformation and icare, ensuring they align with and contribute to the broader organisational strategy.
- Drive strategic decision-making for Automation initiatives to align with icare’s overall strategic objectives and enhance operational efficiency.
- Build and mentor high-performing teams in Automation and AI/ML, fostering a culture of innovation, excellence, and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the identification, implementation, and integration of Automation technologies and AI/ML solutions to improve operational outcomes and efficiency.
- Identify, optimise, and automate business processes across icare to increase productivity and effectiveness, ensuring seamless functionality with existing systems.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align Automation and AI/ML initiatives with icare’s strategic objectives, understanding their needs and challenges.
- Co-lead (with SLT owners) change management efforts related to automation, ensuring smooth implementation of new processes and technologies.
- Provide ongoing oversight and continuous improvement of Automation Platforms and AI/ML projects, ensuring they optimise and increase efficiencies.
Skills & Experience:
- Minimum 15 year’s experience in a similar role.
- Extensive hands-on experience in AI/ML, with a proven track record of leading successful AI/ML projects.
- Proven ability to lead and manage teams of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning resources, and other relevant professionals.
- Experience in delivering and executing AI/ML strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities for AI/ML applications and address challenges.
- Ability to collaborate with different teams and departments to ensure successful AI/ML integration.
- In-depth understanding of the insurance industry, business process and the specific challenges within the sector.
- Extensive experience in implementing automation technologies, including but not limited to Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Machine Learning (ML).
- Strong technical acumen with the ability to assess and integrate emerging technologies effectively.
