Sobeys is full of exciting opportunities and we are always looking for bright new talent to join our team! We currently have a full-time opportunity for an Privacy and Data Ethics Specialist. This role is based out of our office in Calgary, AB.
As a Data Ethics and Privacy and Data Ethics Specialist within our Enterprise Data Office, reporting to the manager of Privacy and Data Ethics, you will assist in the execution of a wide scale of projects focusing on Data Ethics and Privacy that are crucial to Sobeys’ strategic objectives, technology evolution, and compliance. This role requires effective and strong communication, a deep understanding of Data Ethics and Privacy and strong problem-solving skills. You will be instrumental in evolving Sobeys Privacy Program.
Policy And Protocol Implementation:
- Translate ethical data principles, particularly related to Artificial Intelligence and Generative Artificial Intelligence, into actionable policies and guidelines for data collection, use, storage, processing, and sharing.
- Ensure compliance with relevant data protection regulations and standards.
Framework Development:
- Design and develop a comprehensive data ethics and AI framework that aligns with organizational values and industry best practices.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate ethical considerations into all stages of the data lifecycle.
Ethical AI Oversight
- Assist in the evaluation of AI algorithms for fairness, transparency, and accountability.
- Work with internal stakeholders to mitigate bias and ensure ethical AI practices.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Engage with internal teams, including Data Teams, Information Technology Teams, Cyber Security and Legal to align data ethics initiatives with overall business objectives.
- As the Data Ethics Analyst you will also develop and facilitate training and workshops to increase awareness and understanding of data ethics principles.
Key Responsibilities For Privacy:
- Assist in the mitigation of existing enterprise wide and business unit specific privacy risks.
- Assist in identifying new privacy risks and develop mitigation strategy and plan.
- Own day-to-day Privacy Office Operations under the supervision of the Manager of Privacy and Data Ethics.
What you have to offer:
- 5 years experience related to Data Ethics and Privacy.
- Demonstrated knowledge/experience in Data Ethics, Privacy, and Compliance.
- Undergraduate Degree in a field related to Data Ethics, Privacy, Computer Science.
- Sound knowledge/understanding of Canadian and Global Frameworks for Artificial Intelligence.
- Demonstrated understanding of Privacy regulations in Canada.
- Demonstrated ability to be agile and support multiple complex projects.
- Retail experience preferred.
- Bilingual with French and English Strongly Preferred.
- The candidate will be expected to work with peers in other provinces in the development, development and implementation of tools and processes across Canada, as well as provide support to Sobeys employees across Canada.
