Research Scientist (AI) Intern

Hippocratic AI is building a safety focused large language model (LLM) for the healthcare industry. We believe that generative AI has the potential to massively increase healthcare access the world over but has to be built and tested responsibly. Like the Hippocratic oath that doctors take, we are building a model that aims to “Do no Harm.”

We are seeking Artificial Intelligence (AI) Research Interns to join our team and contribute to the advancement of Large Language Models (LLMs) technology aimed at creating disruptive technology products for Healthcare. As an AI Research Intern, you will play a crucial role in developing, improving, and exploring the capabilities of LLMs to solve complex problems geared towards building Conversation AI products for Healthcare. Your work will have a significant impact on the development of cutting-edge Generative AI technologies, advancing the state-of-the-art in artificial intelligence and providing practical solutions to real-world Healthcare technology related problems.

Our ongoing research areas encompass but are not limited to:

• Alignment and Post-training: Instruction tuning and reinforcement learning from feedback.
• Continual Learning: Enabling LLMs to evolve and adapt over time and learn from previous experiences human interactions.
• Specialization: Tailoring LLMs to meet application-specific requirements.
• Efficiency: Optimizing the computational efficiency and cost-effectiveness of LLM deployments.

Required Qualifications:

• Accepted or currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science or related STEM field.

Other Requirements:

• Research Interns are expected to be physically located in our HQ located in Palo Alto, CA

Responsibilities:

As integral members of our dynamic startup team, Research Interns translate inquiries and theories into tangible outcomes. Collaborating with accomplished doctoral candidates and some of the industry’s brightest minds, Research Interns partake in an ongoing learning journey that fosters collaboration and establishes enduring connections. This position not only facilitates individual career advancement but also plays a crucial role in propelling forward innovative research and development initiatives. Throughout the 12-week internship, Research Interns are paired with mentors, encouraged to collaborate with peers and researchers, showcase their discoveries, and actively contribute to the lively atmosphere of our community. Our research internship opportunities span various domains and are available year-round, typically commencing in the summer with a common start date.
