Role:

Are you passionate about developing cutting edge research with a goal of democratizing robotics and making technology accessible for all? We are seeking highly motivated and talented research residents to join our R&D team and contribute to the advancement of robotics in an exciting resident opportunity.

How Your Work Moves The Mission Forward:

  • Develop and design new robot behaviors and skills for novel use cases, leveraging machine learning and reinforcement learning techniques
  • Participate in creating software interfaces to modern machine learning frameworks that are user-friendly
  • Evaluate the robustness and functionality of robot skills both in simulation and on real robots
  • Participate in the creation of end-to-end robotics applications or the integration of robotic hardware (workcells) in an industrial setting
  • Develop tools and intuitive interfaces for various robot functionalities, such as APIs for authoring, editing, and simulating robot workcells.
  • Contribute towards building: perception and vision algorithms, real-time motion control, multi-step task planning, motion and grasp planning, machine learning for contact-rich tasks, knowledge and scene representation.

Skills You Will Need To Be Successful:

  • Applicant should be currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program in Robotics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (PhD students preferred)
  • Strong background in robotics research, with a focus on a specific area such as robot perception, control, planning, machine learning, etc.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in robotics research, such as C++, Python, ROS or MATLAB
  • Experience in developing algorithms for robotic systems, including perception, control, or planning
  • Practical experience with building and testing robotic systems or prototypes
  • Familiarity with simulation tools used in robotics research
  • Strong publication record or evidence of the ability to contribute to academic publications
  • Ability to tackle complex problems in the field of robotics
  • Capability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting research findings and collaborating with team members
