JOB DESCRIPTION:
AI Governance, part of the newly established AI & Data Innovation Department is unleashing new opportunities at Visa by developing and driving the business strategy for AI / Gen AI and data innovation. Driving the development of novel AI / GenAI / data science technologies, leading data product development to create value for clients and partners and driving innovative application of AI / data science to solve business problems among other Innovation activities. The AI Governance Team is accountable for creating and owning Visa’s entire AI Governance policy and processes. The AI Governance team is a critical catalyst for data innovation, maximizing the impact from AI and Gen AI technologies and capabilities in a way that aligns with our Data and AI principles.
The AI & Data Innovation Department in turn rolls up to the broader Global Data Office (GDO) led by Visa’s Chief Data Officer. The Senior Manager, AI Governance Strategy & Operations will report into the Global Head of AI Governance and will be a key member of the AI Governance team. The Sr. Manager will act as a lead resource on matters related to AI Governance principles, policies, and processes. They will own the internal AI Governance strategic roadmap. The Sr. Manager will be also involved in the execution of a wide spectrum of projects as a part of broader AI Governance team, aimed at driving the development of AI use to keep up with the pace of Visa’s business growth, development, and innovation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Monitor and understand regulatory landscape together with our Legal, Privacy, and Risk teams, and introduce changes to AI Governance artifacts as needed.
- Undertake research, analysis, and development in collaboration with cross functional subject matter experts (SMEs) that will shape the future of Visa’s AI governance framework.
- Maintain short, medium, and long-term strategic roadmap for AI Governance at Visa and manage action tracker to ensure projects and open items are progressing and act when necessary to promote accountability within the business unit.
- Create materials (e.g., PowerPoint decks) as required to support the socialization of AI Governance at Visa.
- Create training materials and organize workshops and projects for the training of Visa staff on AI Governance principles and framework across the organization.
- Create content, update, and maintain internal and external Visa employee and user web pages.
- Manage inquiries from the business about AI Governance, principles, policies, best practices, etc.
- Together with other members of the AI Governance team, monitor the inventory of AI systems in development and production.
- Effectively manage the facilitation of internal audit requests and other required assessments. Coordinate with SMEs, maintain audit issues listing, track findings and mitigation, and conduct long term trend analysis.
- Work together with AI sponsors, developers, and cross-functional stakeholders to help maximize value creation through AI in the right way, balancing innovation, regulatory guidance, and consumer risks.
- Provide ad hoc support for other AI Governance workstreams as needed or special projects.
This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
- 4+ years of work experience in high-profile/high-impact project or program management
- Excellent research, writing, and presentation skills varying from senior leaders to broad training
- Excellent ability to use data analysis to identify trends, spot issues, and make recommendations
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Suite of Office Tools
- Advanced knowledge of AI / Generative AI / Data Science
- Advanced program and project management skills with the use of project management software
- Curious and lifelong learner who keeps up to date on emerging trends and technology
- Successful track record of operating cross-functionally, ideally in a federated enterprise design
- Proven ability to work under deadlines and manage projects with evolving requirements
- Team player possessing a strong drive to add value to the business
- Education or work experience in law, risk management, or governance JD or MBA strongly preferred
- Knowledge and understanding of risk management practice (e.g., experience in identifying, assessing, treating, and monitoring risks)
- Legal experience in house or at a major law firm, ideally with a focus on government or regulatory affairs
- Audit and/or compliance experience, preferably with big 4 or other large financial institution, strategy consulting firm, or government agency
- Knowledge of industry frameworks and best practices
- Experience working to uplift and mature governance capabilities, policies definition, controls, and frameworks
- Sector experience in payment processing/payment services, financial services (within a regulated environment), other regulated industries, or technology/financial technology

- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to develop and sustain relationships across levels, role types, and geographies.
- Skilled at keeping complex issues clear, simple, and user friendly.
- Experienced at presenting information to senior levels, with the ability to influence and communicate effectively both virtually and in person.
AI / Data Science:
- Broad technical knowledge and depth on AI / ML / Data Science to liaise with technical teams to execute on responsibilities listed above effectively.
Additional Information:
Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.
Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
