Senior Systems Engineer

The Systems Engineer will be responsible for Teza’s Linux systems and storage infrastructure. You will work closely with developers, trading operations and other business units to ensure the smooth functioning of all systems and applications. Our Systems Engineer will be a key participant in the design and deployment of future infrastructure initiatives.

Chicago, IL or New-York city, NY (Hybrid mode with 3 days in-office requirement)

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor Teza’s Linux server and storage infrastructure
• Troubleshoot all production Linux systems and storage related incidents
• Automate operational processes
• Collaborate with other infrastructure team members, developers, traders, middle and back office support, compliance and management
• Develop and maintain systems that adhere to compliance regulations and security best practices and standards
• Develop and maintain documentation of systems configurations and procedures
• Participate in on-call support rotation in a 24 x 7 environment
• Provide day to day technical support and guidance to end-users
• Implement infrastructure changes during scheduled maintenance windows

Basic Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 5+ years of relevant Linux systems engineering experience
• Extensive experience with RHEL and Debian based Linux distributions
• Strong understanding of TCP and UDP network protocols
• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python or Bash
• Extensive knowledge of Linux filesystems and storage systems as well as file sharing protocols such as NFS and CIFS
• Extensive experience with automation and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Salt or Terraform
• Experience with virtualization platforms, preferably VMWare
• Experience with containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills

Compensation

The anticipated salary for this role lies between $100,000 and $200,000.

When finalizing the total compensation package, we take into the account previous experience and skills the candidate brings to the position.
