AI Research Data Scientist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • The Research Data Scientist is responsible for mining and analyzing data from various internal and external data sources in support of Emory’s healthcare, research, and/or teaching missions.
  • They work collaboratively with stakeholders to develop innovative solutions that leverage data, AI and advanced analytics tools to solve clinical and operational problems and/or answer research questions.
  • The Research Data Scientist is adept at using large data sets and models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action using predictive algorithms and effectively uses data to communicate with stakeholders.
  • They will conduct statistical analyses on large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and correlations.
  • They actively direct and participate in training and data adoption activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative science degree and 3 years of relevant experience.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:

  • This position will work in the Data and AI Research Hub supporting projects for the Goizueta Institute @ Emory Brain Health. A PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or another quantitative field is preferred.
  • This person will apply AI/ML and biostatistics methods to analyze diverse, multimodal data sets (e.g., EHR, imaging, device, -omics) from both clinical care and research studies.
  • This person will collaborate with Researchers throughout the project lifecycle from study design through development/analysis and publication. This person will collaborate with the Cloud engineering team to deploy and support models/algorithms that are used operationally in the research Data Platform.
  • Candidates for this position should demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills, knowledge of real-world application of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and/or statistical theory and methods (regression, etc.), independent research capabilities and good organizational and interpersonal skills, strong written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in collaborative team settings.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department. This role requires residency in the state of GA. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee .
