Research Engineer – AI

AMD is looking for Member of Technical Staff (Staff Researcher) who is passionate about research and can make technical contributions to projects that deliver value for AMD. You will be part of the AMD Research and Advanced Development group, which focuses on innovation, differentiation, de-risking of the technology in future systems and products, and seeding new market opportunities. Our focus is to research and evaluate next-generation networking solutions for AI and machine learning, data center networking and heterogenous computing, among others. Our work spans research and development in both hardware and software aspects of systems.

The Person:

The Staff Researcher should be an active researcher who is passionate about both hardware and software research. It is essential that the researcher has a flexible approach to research topics, since our team adopts a very agile approach to address rapidly changing opportunities and priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

The Staff Researcher is expected to make contributions that will span hardware, software, and applications, using a variety of languages, methodologies, and tools. It is expected that the researcher will have the background and practical skills to make significant contributions within the focus areas of the team (mentioned above).
The researcher will participate in the building of a collaborative ecosystem in Singapore and around the Asia-Pacific region (with research institutes and universities), and will also participate in relevant industry forums and scientific conferences.

Preferred Experience:

Research experience in one or more of the following areas: data center networking (e.g. programmable data planes); machine learning and artificial intelligence; computer architecture; hardware/software co-design; FPGA design, deployment, applications and tools.
Knowledge of distributed systems, high performance computing, and distributed machine learning training is valuable.
Four years of relevant experience, including internships, graduate research, and employment in academic or industrial research groups, is preferred.
