Senior Process Research Engineer

As the Senior Process Research Engineer, you will act as the project leader for projects in the field of process development, up-scaling of new processes, and optimization of existing processes. This function is fully responsible for the coordination of the technical development of new/improved processes, their up-scaling and implementation on commercial scale. Either on Lonza own manufacturing sites or at toller sites. Full responsibility for the coordination and implementation of projects in the field of process development and optimization, up scaling, and commercial implementation with impact on BU level and typical project size (OPEX) of up to 1 Mio CHF.

Essential Job Functions:

• Design and lead multi-disciplinary teams including process development, analytical development, safety, engineering, and operations.
• Allocates/co-ordinates work within the team/project and/or contributes to technical/professional direction by utilizing a variety of advanced project management tools and problem-solving techniques.
• Collects, summarizes, analyses data using advanced tools such as SEEQ/PowerBI to prepare reports/dashboards and makes presentations to inform and manage all stakeholders on BU level.
• Involved in multiple site projects, traveling as needed to maintain internal customer relationships.
• Maintains complex pilot facilities, including process safety and new equipment installation.
• Mentors, develops, and coaches 1-5 scientists or lab techs.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Ph.D, MS, or BS Degree Preferred area of study, Organic Chemistry and/or Chemical Engineering.
• Proven leadership and Project Management skills for projects
• Broad and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles in chemistry & chemical engineering and knowledge of these elements in other disciplines.
• In-depth understanding of how the project team integrates within the different business unit functions (business development, marketing, product management, value-chain) and LSI operations.
• Sound commercial awareness and business acumen.
