AI Solutions Director

Consumer financial systems have transitioned to digital technologies, but business-to-business processes remain primarily stuck in analog mode. B2B still relies on paper documents, emails, and PDF images for communications and transactions between buyers, sellers, and third parties. These formats require human intervention in numerous tasks. They include data entry, reconciliations, verification, QA, approvals, custom spreadsheets, fraud screening, and compliance. Human involvement drives up errors and omissions, increases operating costs, and leaves significant value on the table.
Unlike Generative AI and legacy technology like OCR and RPA, Itemize AI is designed specifically for financial document processing. Its focus is understanding financial document data to derive intelligence, validate results, and automate workflows. These processes include reconciliation, account coding, compliance, cash flow management, and payments.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
The AI Solutions Director will drive Artificial Intelligence initiatives on the Itemize product development roadmap. The position involves both strategic and operational thinking to ensure successful prioritization, development, and delivery to meet customer needs. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of B2B SaaS environments, extensive experience in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, and Natural Language Processing, and a proven track record of delivering high-impact solutions.
This role will report to Executive leadership and will be responsible for:
- Machine-Learning Development: Direct the end-to-end development lifecycle of AI models and the Data Science platform. Provide hands-on model development expertise. Champion a customer-centric approach to solution development, ensuring that Itemize AI solutions meet customer needs and deliver measurable value and ROI. Ensure seamless deployment of updates and improvements while adhering to production schedules
- Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a high-performing Information Science team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Align strategies with overall company goals to enhance product capabilities
- Operational Excellence: Drive a production shop mentality within the team, emphasizing rigorous testing, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Implement best practices in data management, model development, and deployment processes to ensure robustness and reliability
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Application Development, Product Management, Sales, and Marketing teams to integrate data-driven insights into product features, marketing strategies, and sales initiatives
- Performance Measurement: Implement robust metrics and analytics frameworks to measure product performance and optimize for scalability, reliability, and performance
- Innovation and Research: Drive innovation through continuous research and development efforts, staying ahead of industry trends and technological advancements
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MS, PhD) preferred
- Experience: Minimum of 8 years of experience in Data Science, Machine Learning, and AI, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within a SaaS or technology-driven company
- Technical Skills:
- Expertise in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Big Data technologies, and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)
- Experience and demonstrable knowledge of Deep Learning concepts and in applying suitable modeling approaches. Understand how components and processes work together and communicate with each other using library calls, REST APIs queueing/messaging systems, and database queries
- Experience with PyTorch, NLTK, SciPy, Scikit-Learn, Numpy, OpenCV or equivalent for image preprocessing
- Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, drive consensus, and deliver results under tight deadlines
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in scaling AI-driven products from concept to production in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated success in leveraging data analytics to drive business decisions and improve product performance
- Understanding of financial industry technology processes, priorities, and challenges, and customer needs in B2B SaaS markets
- Entrepreneurial mindset with a track record of innovation and driving transformative change

- The annual base salary for this role is expected to be $180,000 to $220,000, plus employee stock options. Actual base pay could vary based on experience and geographic location
