Lead AI Architect

The Client & Innovation Engineering team challenges the status quo and finds solutions on that scale. The team takes a cross-functional view of Apollo to seek high return-on-investment opportunities to use technology in pursuit of growing the business and operating with greater efficiency. Focus areas include client experience, Artificial Intelligence, workflow automation and productivity tools. We aim to empower everyone at Apollo with the ability to innovate in their own roles.
We are seeking an AI Architect with a passion for approaching problems differently. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in AI principles and technologies, with a track record of implementing AI solutions that drive efficiency and growth. This role requires a visionary leader who can identify opportunities for leveraging AI across the business and lead projects from concept through to implementation.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Proven leadership experience in Gen AI research will be crucial in spearheading our efforts to revolutionize the financial industry
- Ability to develop and deploy advanced technologies such as LLMs, financial models, document processing will be highly valued
- Design and drive the implementation of a scalable and robust core AI platform and models to enhance operational efficiency.
- Work closely with investment professionals to translate complex workflows into AI solutions.
- Lead the integration of AI technologies into the existing tech stack, ensuring seamless deployment and operation.
- Provide hands-on technical leadership and core architectural changes, using an Agile programming approach to deliver commercial software solutions.
- Stay continuously informed of the latest AI research and technologies, evaluating their applicability to our business objectives.
- Passion for clean, maintainable code and always looking to improve engineering skills in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
- Lead by example, fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment, promoting knowledge sharing, and encouraging professional growth and development.
- Collaborate with Cyber Security, Infrastructure and Compliance teams to ensure the design and implementation of AI platforms comply with firm best practices and industry regulations.
- Drive the development of proprietary solutions that can provide a competitive edge in the market.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 10-15+ years of experience, with at least 8+ years working in Finance or related industry environment.
- Individual must demonstrate strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Solid hands-on experience in Python coding
- Familiarity with GenAI chat bots and the ability to implement them effectively
- True NLP (Natural Language Processing) experience or a strong background in data science
- Demonstrated ability to apply existing models to real-world applications; not looking for model training but rather application usage
- Experience in collaborating on small POCs (Proof of Concepts) with software developers
- Strong proven track record of delivering full-stack cloud-based applications.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and rigorous work environment; demonstrated ability to prioritize competing demands and meet deadlines.
- Commercial, self-starter with a willingness to execute projects in a small, nimble team.
- Exemplary interpersonal skills necessary to handle sensitive information and confidential situations.
- Comfortable challenging peers and leaders to drive strategy forward.
- Team-oriented and collaborative attitude is a must.
- Strong management and leadership skills.
